Overview
Fixed Wireless broadband access is the newest
stable technology for delivering Internet access. It's a mature
service that has proven itself as a viable alternative to more
expensive leased line services. One of the most attractive features
about Fixed Wireless is its scalability. With dedicated circuits you
have to add a T1 at a time to increase bandwidth. We can provide up
to 5 Megabits per second of Internet or inter-site communications
with a single wireless connection. There is no additional equipment
to purchase to "ramp up" to achieve more bandwidth.
This is NOT satellite!
Our wireless connections are stable enough for
services such as VPNs, Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) and Terminal Services.
The bandwidth is symmetrical so hosting servers behind a fixed
wireless connection is no problem. You get the same speed up and
down.

Technical Details
Speed
Our fixed wireless services are all based on 10 megabit per
second capable radios. This means your actual download speeds
are generally in excess of your subscribed speed. unWired
reserves the right to throttle your connection based on abusive
activity as we see fit. You will always be guaranteed your
subscribed speed. Our philosophy is to give our customers the
fastest attainable access to the Internet. Should we see
excessive activity, we may contact you to either negotiate a
faster speed tier or offer throttling (bandwidth limiting) to
make it fair to all parties.
Physical Connection
The connections we provide are handed off via a standard
Ethernet jack. Client connections should terminate to either a
gateway router or access server. The Ethernet jack will
auto-negotiate from 10Mbit half duplex to 100Mbit full duplex.
Reliability
The technology used to deliver access is generally not affected
by adverse weather or heat. In some extreme weather cases it's
more likely that a power outage at your facility would cause
access interruptions than the weather itself.
Installation / Equipment
Typical installations consist of mounting a dish similar to
those used for DSS Satellite somewhere on your building. A cable
is pulled from that dish to a point on your network where we can
interface. The dish must be mounted in a position compatible
with our towers. We generally use a non-penetrating roof mount
to achieve this.
All wireless equipment remains the
property of unWired Broadband. A NAT Router option is a low cost
way to share Internet access throughout your office. We give you
up to 5 public IP addresses, which will serve an entire office
with the aid of a gateway NAT router.
